Description

This model is the bat top version featuring Japanese-style mounting, no collar, Korean microswitches (Gersung GSM-V1623A3), and a silicone grommet (35 tension) from the Crown 309 series.

What is the CWL-309 Series?

The CWL-309 has become one of Crown's most popular joystick series in recent years. Designed in collaboration with a veteran Korean player known as Help Me, the original 309 was developed with Tekken in mind but performs exceptionally well in other fighting games as well.

Alongside the popular Myoungshin Fanta lever, the 309 can be found in many arcades throughout South Korea.

Crown designed the 309 as their interpretation of the Fanta lever. By combining elements from the CWJ-303N and CWL-307 joysticks and emphasizing specific characteristics from each, the 309 was created to offer a balanced experience between those two models.

Microswitches

Most modern Crown joysticks now come equipped with Gersung microswitches. These switches use standard 0.187-inch terminals, commonly found in traditional arcade joysticks, and can easily be adapted for fight sticks using a conversion harness.

Mounting Plate

The "J" in 309FJ stands for Japanese-style mounting plate, featuring mounting holes compatible with most Sanwa JLF mounting setups.

This differs from the "M" in 309MJ, which indicates a low-profile collar design.

Silicone Grommet vs. Spring

The silicone grommet is designed to provide increased durometer (stiffness) while delivering a more elastic feel during gameplay.

Compared to traditional latex grommets, silicone offers a lighter damping effect and a response that feels closer to a spring-based mechanism. For players accustomed to Japanese levers, the silicone grommet provides a familiar spring-like return while maintaining more consistent resistance throughout the lever's entire range of motion.
